Me too!! That was a rather tough one. I figured a lot of people would mess up the question about Museeuw's Bianchi used in Paris-Roubaix. I recall when the frame broke. It wasn't the first bike with suspension to be used in P-R. Maybe the first with rear suspension but definitely not front. Think that honor is correctly bestowed onto LeMond and Duclos-Lassalle.

I'll admit to having guessed at Richard's bike used during the Olympics though. At least I guessed right!

a naysayer here: the 90s more than any era in cycling included frames repainted to match sponsors. Case in point: The young Lance Armstrong won the 1993 Worlds on a Litespeed, painted as something else. So in this quiz, what is the right answer?
Alpine ski racing went through the same thing a decade or two earlier: major races won by racers sponsored by ski brand X actually raced on brand Y but with the top of their sponsor ski brand X. Because back then there was a real difference between skis X and Y, just like in the 90s there was a real difference between frames made by the Lynskys in Tennessee, USA out of unobtanium 3/5 Litespeed compared with steel frames made in Europe.
I doubt the differences between frames now are significant. Correct me if I'm wrong, but under the different paint jobs and decals pretty much all frames in the current pro peloton are made in Taiwan and maybe even in the same factory by the same workers.

LSD is correct re: rebadged frames...technically Virenque was on a Litespeed and Richard was on a Serotta.

And 7 won the Worlds in '93 on Litespeed painted as a Caloi.

I'd argue that the differences between frames today are greater than when they were constructed of various types of steel tubing and lugs. To the trained eye, it's pretty easy to tell one brand of frame from another simply by looking at the shapes used today. And in terms of performance, I definitely believe there is a noticeable difference between some of the crazy lightweight frames on the market compared to an aero model (like an Emonda vs. Madone, Addict vs. Foil, R5 vs. S5, etc.)

Just my opinion though.

Didn't know Pascal Richard used a rebranded Serotta. That's a new one. Definitely remember Virenque and Zulle both riding on rebadged Litespeeds. Probably one of the most obvious rebrandings had to be when 7 used a painted Litespeed Blade in the '99 Tour. It wasn't until the following year that Trek brought out a TT-specific frame.
