Always a bit more of a ccrapshoot than Flanders.....but I gotta figure Sagan has a bit of "red ass" on him right now adn will be looking to exact his revenge. I also think he'll go form a decent way out, not wanting to leave it to chance.

In the meantime, enjoy a litte F-U to my old friends at WCP as I post a link to one of the greatest P-R's ever.....the 1990 race.

Incidentally, one of the (very) dark horses for Sunday is Guillaume Van Kiersbulck......his dad is the Isogalss rider (Kurt Van Kiersbulck) in the breakaway with Eddy Plankaert.....as soon as I heard his kid's name, I knew exactly who his dad was. I can't tell you how many times I watched that video over the years......

Agree Sagan must be extra motivated but he fell really hard last weekend. May slow him down enough to keep him off the podium. I hope I'm wrong because I love his go for it style.

There's no one out there I want see win but Tom Boonen. Mr. Paris-Roubaix to the rest of you. I know it's a long shot but that is the only right end to this year's race.

I like Van Avermaet, Sagan will be fired up for sure. I would love to see Boonen take the win on his last ride for sure, but I think the you guns are too fast for him these days

What Ben said. I don't think its a long shot though...he is in good form and has been putting in work for others, see MSR, see Schelde, see RVV plus lacking a bit of luck, plus this is his race.

More likely though Van Avermaet, hot form and things have been falling his way except that crash at RVV.

Sagan is hurting more than he's letting on.

They way to get Boonen to (maybe) win. Q-S has the other guns who have to be respected even if the are not Boonens. Sent them up the road. Force GVA ans Sagan to do work. Save the best for last. As GVA is locking on to Sagan wheel in the late retrieval of that Q-S rider, Boonen goes. Sagan hesitates, knowing he is pulling GVA for the win.

I got on early, but now can't get my other devices to log-on so I can watch it on my TV. So I am stuck watching it on my iPad which I can't hook up to my TV.

Pleased to see GvA win, he rode a good/strong race. Kinda feel bad for Sagan, but that's P-R for ya. Impressed with Oss's work for his teamie. Understand why Stybar didn't work for a while, but in that last 10-15k he had to have known Boonen wasn't going to bridge up. Not real fond of him sitting on from then on. deVlaeminck has to be breathing easier, too. Probably no one on the horizon looking to win 4 in this current crop of riders. Expected more from Degenkolb, too....

Sagan rode like an idiot...again. Big attack @ 75k to go? Dumb. And then he had to spend energy constantly trying to bridge gaps.

Compare to GVA...crashed before Arenberg, keeps his cool, slowly works his way back up, recovers and then goes for the kill when he was ready.

Although it was shades of 1990 P-R when the group behind caught them on the velodrome....thought they had screwed up for sure.

Sagan has zero team support and what was with that wheel change? I've seen faster wheel changes with caked on mud in Cat 4 CX races; and no push to get him up to speed?! Sad

On top of that he is riding like it's five years ago when he was an unmarked man. He should know better than that.

Huck wins. He picked GVA for 2nd. Red next. (4th) The rest of us? Pack fodder.

I really would have liked Boonen to pull off the miracle and if not that, a Q-S win. But GVA was the man today. Kept his head, put himself in the right places, did a lot of work and pulled off a deserved victory. Given his ride, no one else had any right to win, nor any right to gripe. I really thought his race was over when he got his mechanical before the Arenberg., then that he couldn't have the legs to keep the group going, then beat Stybar.

I totally figured GVA would win it, I thought he was super strong in De Ronde, he kept his cool, and rode a smart race. I did not care for how Stybar raced,I could not see Boonen bridging up to the leaders in the last 20K, Stybar FINALLY started pulling in the last 5K, GVA gave him the business at one point, but that's racing.......glad to see he did not win it
I thought Moscon had a helluva ride, and Stuyven seemed to be close to or in front all day

I don't really have any gripes with Stybar's race...he said after that they were all committed to seeing Boonen win, and he did what he could to make it happen. When he was finally given the nod, he attacked and then started working....that is just bike racing.

So does Sagan now have the needed ammo to argue for Bora spending big $$ to get him some support?

I shudder to think of what he would have won in terms of classics if he had had Quick Step level support for the past 4 or 5 years.

Sagan only has himself to blame in that regard....he choose the riders who came with him to the team (I think an extra 6 riders, plus some staff). It isn't that Bora wasn't willing to spend the $$, it was that they were told WHERE to spend the $$.
