OK, outside the time limit, but he finished.  That is huge.  Young African riders can look at this and dream of going one step further, finishing inside the time limit.

20 years ago, yesterday's accomplishment was inconceivable.  Like going to the moon 150 years ago.  That tiny seed planted in Rwanda two decades ago is growing.

That ride could be the biggest deal in this year's P-R for cycling long term.  Maybe the biggest deal for the entire year.  We won't see what it fosters for years.  I hope I get to see a mixed race peloton in my lifetime and if I ever hear one of those new riders thanking this P-R for this inspiration, well I don't have words for it.

I remember in the 70s when the Albany, NY newspaper had a headline, "Black named to NYS Regents post." I was confused at first because I thought that "Black" was the person's name, not the color of his skin. Thank goodness times change.
