Apologies for the nerdy Star Trek reference if it's not familiar. Their brilliant scifi creation, the Borg collective, was a conquering swarm of drones, rather like ants, similarly soul-less, but with better communication, intellect and weapons. The Borg ruthlessly and without emotion "assimilated" species and civilizations they encountered.
"Resistance is futile", they would proclaim before assimilation. Great line that has found a place in the popular culture.
Tough battles for the series good guys to fight them off.
