Uran and JA are looking good in Switzerland! Sky’s current incarnation will be the team to beat but here’s hoping for a show.

Pogacar will be the individual to beat, looking really slim. Roglic will be close. Ineos has the numbers but let’s see if anyone of them can get close to those two. JA won’t be close he wastes so much energy over three weeks this will kill him. Uran looks good and could factor.

No argument, I was referring to JA being in fighting form for stages and maybe green after a (for him) quieter spring. Uran in my book is still in play for the podium, but yes that may be a stretch. For most riders, a podium in Paris is a career.

“ Julian Alaphilippe has left the Tour de Suisse to return home for the birth of his first child ”

Well that could throw in a monkey wrench.

INEOS needs to play the spoiler and be willing to sacrifice the chances of the leader (Thomas) for the sake of the team winning.

They need to do NO work whatsoever and send Porte, Carapaz and Geoghegan Hart up the road on raids and hope something sticks...or sets up a counter from G.

Just like Carlos Sastre was not the strongest rider in the race, CSC tactics set him up and they sacrificed Schleck’s chances of winning.
Just say "NO!" to WCP!!!!

Just came across this, things were a little bit different. This wasn't CSC tactics, it was Sastre outwitting CSC: https://www.cyclingweekly.com/news/racing/tour-de-france/csc-team-mate-reveals-schleck-brothers-feud-with-carlos-sastre-at-2008-tour-de-france-458774

On a totally unrelated side note. Sastra hit on my wife at one of at the TOC's outside the teams dinner hall that we attended. Yea, he only asked to dance while she was alone outside while I ran back in. But Im a guy and understand. Hot looking chick, outside the teams eating hall after a stage. Surprised he was the only one.

Good article on the CN website about the next great hope for French fans, and a good window into the pressure they face. https://www.cyclingnews.com/features/sat-euro-out-of-pinots-shadow-and-into-the-glare-david-gaudu-takes-aim-at-the-tour-de-france/

JMO but the playing field is still not leveled and the French are still at a disadvantage due to more rigorous doping surveillance.

Maybe Gaudu will shine on the mur de bretagne which is his backyard. Here's another good one with focus on Brittany, of course also home to the badger:
