Yes she was on a mission today after being beat out by Wiebes (arguably the fastest current sprinter on flat finish these days) yesterday. Doubt that Vos will factor in final podium. Van Vleuten, Vollering or…?

Oh damn, Cavalli crashed out. She made Giro competitive keeping it close with van Vleuten.

The Getty Images photo on the CN live updates - the Vos winning grin. As long as her heart is still in to the love of winning she's had since she was a kid, watch out!

WTH was going on with that rider (Frain) that hit them at full speed after crash had long happened? Completely oblivious, that's brutally inattentive. Damage to skull for Cavalli who is getting checked out further in hospital.

Overall an inordinate amount of crashes today.

Possibly the nastiest hit-from-behind I've seen in pro cycling. She riding with her eyes closed or what?

And ears.  (Well, could be that she had an outside sound blocking radio headset or an attention demanding DS.  Nah, we know well that radios only make the race safer.)

Awesome racing and final sprint today. Best possible winner in Ludwig after yesterday.

Awesome racing and final sprint today.

This has been a great course and has led to some aggressive racing....good stuff.

The Danish Dominance in July continues.

Sounds like van Vleuten was sick and pulled a Dumoulin yesterday, hence the time loss, but was feeling a bit better today. Lots of time to make up in a short week.

“I am just Marianne who enjoys riding a bike. There are moments when it is going well but I don’t think what I’m doing is all that special”. Vos asked to comment on goat label.

This would presumably have been another easy one for Wiebes had she not crashed. That would have made the points competition interesting. Vos described Wiebes as a rocket flying by in the sprints.

Two climbing stages coming up to shake out the GC. There have been some gripes from some quarters (van Dijk) about lack of an iTT for a well-rounded overall competition. Wondering who will take it. Persico in number two spot seems like a small team dark horse who did well enough in Giro.

That's one big goat.  Don't mess with it.  (Wearing the helmet of a fallen knight around it's neck as a trophy.)

Wow! I went away when van Vleuten was starting the final climb. Knew she'd win but this? I liked her comment that she had more training. No, not this year but lifetime. (One reason to keep really hard stages in grand tours. This par course looks like field stays together until the final climb boring. No! Instead, the racing I love. Let it all hang out.

I had hoped that Vollering could keep it closer, but no. Beast mode.

Another wow. She made up, what?, 5 minutes? in two stages after being sick and riding her heart out just to stay in contention. She endured potty stops early, then mechanicals on the finale and still did this.

(And I looked at that fancy yellow Canyon pre-race and thought "that was a long night for some mechanic. Looks like a mechanical waiting to happen." And guess what? In the neutral zone! Then either that bike or the next in the race. And I think 3 bike changes and quite a few kilometers on her teammate's bike. No sympathy from her competitors and a key screwup of being dropped by her teammates.

The woman's got a heart as big as her legs. Now the organizers need to step up. That was a ride worthy of a grand tour, not a pre-Tour 8-10 stage primer.
