I just read tthe VeloNation account of the French race. Wow! In my view, that is racing at it's best. http://www.velonation.com/News/ID/14826/Vichot-stuns-Chavanel-and-Gallopin-for-French-road-race-title.aspx Ir's all there. Hard, hard racing, Attacks that really meant something. Team racing (though some of that was to try to undo the break with their teammate in it because there was no chance he could beat that guy who bridged to him.) And that weaker rider? He spent all day at the head of the race, attacked as the break was failing, did some work (rather justifiably not his full share) with the two strong riders who bridged up to him, then in the late miles, out-foxed them and rode to a very deserved win. Does it get any better? Ben |
