Thomas has a fractured tailbone or pelvis (maybe both?). Here's how they are caring for it: "G. Thomas is back at the race doctor's car, getting some care and a pain-relieving spray on his tailbone."

insane... just insane
We're going to be looking at these guys in 20 years like we do former NFL players--- arthritic beat-up cripples.

Clarke, who was in today's break and won mountain points, they said he had a small fracture of the pelvis. I just don't see how you race, and he was apparently racing hard, with an injury like that.

Same with Ted King with a separated shoulder. Since I am 8 weeks out from the same kind of injury I can't even imagine riding like he is - my shoulder still hurts a bit. Then again he says that he is "used to it" from playing hockey.

Dale, add ballet dancers to that list. A former girlfriend was a friend of one of Seattle's principal dancers. The list of hip and knee surgeries she'd had would qualify her as ex-NFL. (I also watched her once get an elbow in her gut from the strongest male of that troupe. Sher didn't flinch. In fact, watching her, you could not tell anything happened. I watched that and thought "these girls are like NFL quarterbacks. Walk back to the huddle and call the next play.")
