This is kind of a neat story. The 19 teams participating in the Tour Down Under (the 18 ProTeams plus UniSA) are auctioning off team jerseys signed by their seven riders in the TDU, with proceeds benefiting a flood relief charity. The auctions are here, and me being a bit of a geek, what I'm interested in is to see whose jersey nets the most cash.

Unsurprisingly, the RadioShack jersey is the highest, at $2,700 as I write this. Second highest is the HTC-High Road jersey, already up to $2,500 after only seven bids. Sky is also up over $1,000, likely thanks to Michael Rogers, Simon Gerrans, Chris Sutton, and Greg Henderson. I expected the UniSA jersey would be the lowest, but right now Lampre, Movistar, Ag2r, Astana, Euskaltel, Quick Step, Katusha, and Vacansoleil are all lower, and only Garmin-Cervelo, Leopard-Trek and Saxo Bank-SunGard have more bids.

Which would you pay the most for? I wonder if the low bidding on the Lampre jersey is because of its general fugliness, or because perhaps the biggest name on their TDU squad is only known for getting in a fight with Cadel Evans.

And The Shack indeed are the big winners, at $6,100. HTC-High Road $3,250, Garmin $2,275, Sky $2,500, Leopard $1,100, UniSA $1,030, Rabobank $825, everyone else around $400-$600. To answer my own question, I could see myself dropping a hundred or three on a Garmin jersey, particularly if signed by some of my favorites, but certainly not $2,275 even if I had that amount of money on hand.
