I left the house this morning knowing I would probably see a quick downpour.  Stayed dry until I was a couple of miles from home when I got caught in a rain fit only for frogs.

I was wearing a Showers Pass Event jacket and a Segoi helmet cover.  Good move!  (The Event jacket is the one with a nylon-like grey inside line.  It does not roll or fold to jersey pocket size.)

Granted, I didn't spend a lot of time out there but had I, those items would have been appreciated more.  The other thing I thought during that shower when it turned to hail:  Visors and glasses work really well to keep hail out of eyes.

Never mind rain so much if it hits me well after I've started my ride - never like starting in it...

So I don't ; )

What Huck said… I've been out loads of times when it started raining and kept on riding- even came in with a coating of ice once but I'm seldom heading out if it's pouring rain.

Couple of exceptions-- cyclocross race if I've already paid the entry fee, or a hot summer day when it looks like it won't be a prolonged storm or that it will turn cold.

Down in FL for storing break...weather has sucked all week, but I got my 250 in regardless (with two rest days!!)

Monday it rained all day.....I mean ALL DAY. Like huck and Dale, I have no desire to start out in the rain, but had no choice. So out I went for 3 hours in the wet.....was enjoyable once I got going. I like riding in he he rain as long as it is not too cold.
Just say "NO!" to WCP!!!!

I generaly won't go out the door if it is raining. not even light showers but if it has bee wet long enough I can force myself out the door. Now once I am out there and I have the fender bike I don't mind if I am not cold yet. Wet means a long post ride clean up but cold is just no fun to be had.

I got over the hesitation to start off when it is raining some time ago. Really, its just a mental barrier that lasts about a minute.

CK it started raining in FL the day we left :-)

it usually doesn't just 'rain' here. it storms with lightning and winds. granted it doesn't last long but i have a healthy fear of lightning so i stay indoors.

I don't mind getting wet, but I won't head out the door if it's raining. Got stuck in a hail storm once, it hurt. Had to take shelter until it passed over. When I left the house the sun was out, then about 45 min into the ride it started to rain, then hail, then snow. Man the things I have been through with my old Master X-Light.

Nothing makes getting out in a chilly rain easier than a shot of hard liquor.

I just think about sitting in traffic in a car. That solves the problem immediately and I throw the leg over the bike and go. Don't have much reason to take a recreational or "training" ride in a downpour though.

Keith I think you are confusing the end of the ride with the start.

But as I always say, nothing a hot shower can't fix.
