Fewest bikes in probable 15 years. With a little motivation I'd sell off the top three and get a Carl Strong Ti cross bike with S&S couplers

Part of "Operation De-clutter and Minimize." If I play my cards right and continue selling off my stuff, within 5 years everything I own will fit in an 8x10 storage unit and a back-pack, then I'm hiking/ biking/ disappearing for months on end.

You got us all licked in the shoe dept, I'd bet

looks like reasonable stable though. You aren't dropping cx, are you? What's the bike on the top right?

Left to right: Masi Evo w/ Chorus 11, Colnago World Cup Cross w/ Record 10 levers, 105 detailers, Carl Strong custom Ti w/ Record 10

One pair of shoes are my daughters/ stoker. The bottom pair needs to be pitched-- sandals that are disintegrating.

Cross is still my favorite. Even if I get down to one bike it's has to accommodate that.

I have one small "bedroom" in my house that you have to step around and over things when in it. What things? Guitars, amps, a recording console, floor monitors etc. Sometimes I think about selling off some of the stuff but what if a I really neeeeeeed it some day???? Be careful, Dale!

I just finished making room in my one car garage for a, well, car! It's my project, but still...

Living in Albuquerque, most people have flat roofs (no attic) AND no basement. We have a big shed in the back yard, but it only goes so far. Between Goodwill, Re-Store and the dump, I got rid of several truck loads worth of crap. (I'm pretty sure I'll NEVER use that last four feet of insulation.)

Keith: Dude, you forgot already? It's the '76 Alfa Romeo Alfetta GT! It's going to be a low budget vintage race car. A lot less detail needed. The "interior" will be battle ship gray paint, roll bar and race seat. Eventually some cut-to-fit sheet metal for interior door panels. The photo makes me realize there's also my red Marinoni hanging behind it. Must be my Eye-Talian last name (Arenella). :-)

jrt: This IS New Mexico! LOL. In fact, city ordinance specifically allows cars on the front yard, so long as they're perpendicular to the street. Seriously. But I'm too much of a "good neighbor". They put up with me renting Bob Cats, jack hammers and dumpsters, cuz at least things eventually look better when I'm done. LOL.
Edit: Dale, not to hijack your post...sorry. I know what you mean about simplifying. Of the four bikes in my garage, two are mine (wife, son). What I've realized about bikes for me, is that I always "need" a road bike, anything else is extra.

That is what I thought NickA, I was trying to remember if you were the guy I had talked to on the forum!

How is the build going so far? When do you plan to have it done?

What are you doing for electrical? Just building your own harness? I know the Italians were worse than the Brits on electrical issues, especially the Alfas of this era.

Induction? Going with Webers? Mine had the Spica mechanical fuel injection. That stuff was maddening!

a proper gentleman should have at least 3 bikes; road bike, mtb and a commuter. bonus points for bikes for the spouse/partner and maybe one for whoever comes to visit for bar hopping.

my girlfriend has taken over the house with here stuff. i could pack my house stuff in the back seat of my car. the garage however is mine. most of the stuff out there is crap (but valuable crap) that i could leave. lots of tools and toys would require a moving truck. lucky me has a 2.5 car garage.

Keith: It runs and drives, so I don't plan on messing with anything for now. I want to have it track worthy by the last event with our club in October (maybe not race ready)...then race ready by next spring. Then it'll just be an ongoing project...like if the SPICA drives me nuts and I want Webers. But it's more important for me to drive it then for it to be perfect.

I've repaired the rusted windshield frame. I ordered a bolt in roll bar. I have a racing seat. I ordered new tires. I'd need a racing harness, and I'd want to likely change all fluids, new brakes and check hoses before it hits the track. The windshield is impossible to find, so I'll go Lexan. To race it, it'd need lug nuts (not current bolts...this is for "tech inspection" so they can see that the bolt is fully threaded on), fire extinguisher, electrical cut-off switch, and an enclosure for the gas tank in the rear cargo area. I've done everything myself so far. I plan on having the exterior painted at a cheapo Maaco like place.

Skinny: I've had up to three bikes, never more. They've included, road, commuter, mountain and fixed in various combos. Never could get into mountain biking though. Never felt like I could hit a fluid rhythm...although the idea of being off road...and with more laid back guys appeals to me.

Ugh, the rust around the windshield in those cars is a pain in the ass. But that engine....man. The sound. The kick when it came on the cam...it made me understand why people become Alfa nuts. In the proper hands they are LETHAL cars and I mean that in the best way!

I am in the same situation with my Spitfire. Wanted to have it ready by spring, but fall seems more reasonable. I am heading up to Import Carlisle tomorrow to see if I can find some stuff for my car. Looking for seat options and a header.
