what will the next big thing be? we already have electronic shifting, hydraulic disk brakes, power meters, carbon bits, tubeless tires and wheels. maybe custom frames from a 3d printer? |

Well, we just saw the article on the clear frame. Which begs the question, how did Wonder Woman ever find her invisible plane? And what good did it really do since she wasn't invisible while flying it?

I saw a dude on a motorized unicycle the other day. Maybe that will catch on. |

So the Segway's been one-upped? Actually, a for real self balancing motorized unicycle would be a VERY impressive engineering feat. Almost as difficult would be convincing me that it had a need, but doesn't stop people.

| Next is disk brakes on road bikes. My ride buddy is a bike shop owner and says it will be the thing for next year. Thinking out of the box. Automatic shifting... Set it for a desired cadence and it keeps you there. How about solar cells to recharge electronic shifting? |

| Mike, thanks for the link! I would like to play with that system a bit. I've ridden a few gear box bikes, and the main problems are narrow gear range, weight, friction, and maintenance/durability. At this point a bike built with a Rohloff hub is probably the best way to eliminate derailers. The key to my post above is eliminating the chain. Nuseti sealed the chain which is a step in the right direction. |
