Available on Netflix Instant View. Watched it this afternoon after a ride. Made Hinault look like a jerk and Greg LeMond look like, well, Greg LeMond...

Decent flick, but really didn't add anything new to the narrative..... no new revelations, etc. But for those that were unfamiliar with the story (the 99'ers...hah!), it was probably pretty informative.

Koechli is a douchbag, though....
Just say "NO!" to WCP!!!!

I had forgotten how intense that whole situation was!!! I remember watching it back then, really had no idea how truly crazy that was at the time. You know, they don't call Hinault the Badger for nothing, you gotta still love him with the comment, "I just made him earn it, made him a better racer" still in denial

Koechli is a douchbag for sure!!

The movie didn't touch on 10% of the weasely behavior both on Hinaults and Koeclis part, as well as un-indighted coconspirators lurking in the background.

John Grisham couldn't have written a book with more side stories and intrigue.

i watched it last night on youtube for free. is it the espn 30-30 show? anyway it was pretty good but it was probably a lot more dramatic at the time. does that koechli guy have dentures? he reminded me of my toothless grandma adjusting her dentures when she spoke.

The book was excellent exploring all sides of the story; sounds like the movie is more one-dimensional. Not going to watch it, I don't want to spoil memories of what is still the best Tour ever.

I'm going to read the book.

I have noticed that whenever LeMond talks about the shooting incident he relates that they called for a helicopter to come to the scene (which saved his life). He never mentions that it was a Calif Highway Patrol helicopter. I personally know the fight officer. He said the happened to be in the area and heard about a shooting accident and flew to the scene and ended up transporting him. After he came out of surgery he personally thanked the CHP crew at the hospital. They said the did not know who he was and had never heard of Greg LeMond. So I wonder if there is some type of spite in the fact the LeMond never mentions the fact that it was A CHP helicopter that saved his life.

I watched it last night. Nice footage, even if some of it was of low quality. Seems like it could have been a lot longer, but the title was 'slaying the Badger'.

The 'I told you so' parts about EPO and -7 were jarring, and merited more detail.

I liked it too. I had quit racing, and found it difficult to follow the sport for awhile, and part of that while, was when all of this happened. So it was more informative for me than it should have been. In general, I've noticed that cyclists tend to not give those politically correct non-answer answers like they do in other sports...at least the ones that get media coverage in the US. (Think Bull Durham.)

I saw it yesterday and enjoyed it especially the words from Hinault. Sorry I never took the oh so sorry for Greg point of view and I remember the polemic of the day. In the end I agreed with Hunault that Greg needed to learn to win when it was hard. In the end I had much more respect for Lemond's victory. Without that drama there would have been little to remember other than being the first American to win the tour. He was also the American that slayed the badger.
