Living in Albuquerque, it's a four hour shot up 550 to Durango, CO. How are my southern CO peeps up there? It is such a beautiful part of the country, and it saddens me to no end, the crap that went into that river. Once the orange stuff subsides, there's cadmium, lead, mercury, all kinds of invisible horrible stuff. Nick

That river is screwed up, lots of really nasty stuff in that waste water, I guess it's time to pay for the ravaging of the land for centuries in southern CO , and not taking care of the waste properly.

Profit trumps all when it comes to this stuff, we have a mine up here by the Red River in Questa, NM, it is a Superfund Site, the ground water is fouled, can't use it for anything, everyone is now on a and now on a city water line, and everytime they get a big rain, all of the tailings wash right down into the canyon, and into the river. It's Chevron, and they are always crying poor, and that they can not pay for the claenup

A Civil Action - one of Travolta's best movie roles
Erin Brockovich - same for Julia Roberts.

We had the Mount Polley mine disaster here in BC this year.

This kind of crap and groundwater becoming a scarce commodity will keep me employed forever, that's the only upside.

I was a federal employee for five years. Trust me, I know how they can screw things up, and the spill is very much their fault. That being said, a private company made tons of money, and left that crap there in the first place.

I just hope that mother nature bails our sorry a$$es out once again, and heals itself from an injury that resulted from our lackluster stewardship.
