I'll be 49 in a few weeks, and it's got me Googling all kinds of health crap. Livestrong pops up near the top almost constantly. Man, what an empire that guy had. I know all of the arguments concerning decoupling this from LA, but that's pretty much all I think of everytime I see that website. |

I turned 50 this year; the targeted ads I get are about flights to go just about anywhere and some bike race at Mt Ventoux happening Sep 2016.

Seriously....WTF is with AARP?!?!? I'm only 49 and I am inundated with AARP crap.
Now, I'll likely join 'cuz you can get discounts just about anywhere with it and it pays for itself, but let's be honest.....I am nowhere NEAR retirement, either in age or financially.  |

ZOOT: THAT'S funny.
My wife is three years older than me. You can join AARP when you're 50. She's totally into those kind of things, you know like coffee shop punch cards, etc. She signed up for it for one year, and wishes she never had. We get crap from them CONSTANTLY!
I have a picture of myself in a skinsuit when I was 17, and you can see my ribs. I got back from the doctor and my fasting blood sugar was, high, triglycerides high, etc. Not super high, but above the magic number. I used to get away with murder. Now I rode 30+ miles Saturday, Sunday and today, Wednesday. |

Hey fellow geezers, taking it back to Livestrong: they helped my mom. A lot.
Lance was/is a major d*ck, but the foundation DID do a lot of good. Too bad he is such a psychopath that when he retired (the first time) he did not do the right thing and pour himself into building up the foundation. It might be thriving today. Cancer survivorship has always taken a back seat to research on the disease(s). His was/is a good cause.
Epitaph: "He could have done a lot better, but he didn't. Schmuck."
PS: AARP may be the most powerful lobby in DC. Old folks vote. Boomers will get what the want, as they always have.

| that 'win at all costs' attitude could probably make him a lot of money and/or do a lot of good in the world. shame he wasted it on cycling. somebody will hire him as a silent partner because he has that skill. |

@ LSD - Agreed re: Livestrong. I have good friends that benefitted immensely from their work. Damn sahme they have to shoulder his legacy now.
And no, AARP is not the most powerful lobby in DC. That is clearly the NRA.
