Spot on critique, particularly about trump ending the bush and clinton dynasties. I'm usually not one for Monday morning quarterbacking, but I'll make an exception and say that Bernie Sanders would have clobbered trump. The democratic party would be wise to take as many pages as possible from Sanders' playbook.

Chinook - I am ok. Took some time away from media which helped. That said I am still shocked at the state of affairs in this country. It simply makes no sense.

Is it time to revive this one? I'm just sad, angry, and all kinds of other things. And it's almost constant. Written the day of so-called withdrawal from Paris accords. I'm not generally a Chicken Little, and I wasn't all crazy with W, like some people. But this. His shear stupidity is frightening.

American Exceptionalism devolves to American Isolationism. This, along with torpedoing the trans pacific partnership will accelerate China's ascension to the most influential country on the planet. The 21st century eventually belongs to China, in no small part thanks to American Exceptionally Dumbism. The Trump base and conspiracy theorist speech writer Steve Bannon will have their political orgasms tonight while Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, both Roosevelts, and Reagan are spinning in their graves.

If Tillerson resigns after urging Trump to do the right thing, my respect for him would increase 100 fold.
Dream on.
If Colin Powell resigned rather than go before the UN shilling flimsy info justifying the subsequent Iraq invasion, I'd respect him now, too. Being a good soldier is not always in the interest of the American people or people of the world.

I think LSD is right, China will be the new leader. I don't think us pulling out will be as bad as.some think. Most people believe climate change is real. Individuals, cities and states will keep us moving forward. It will have a bigger impact on developing countries that cannot afford green power. My wife and I just signed up for our local green power program. I hope enough others do too.

My angst isn't even so much about this latest stupidity. It's all of the stupidity, and the frightening, substantial minority that eat it up. Well said LSD. I'm most disappointed by those that know better, but go along for political reasons.

Looking back on this thread, I would say that things are even worse than we feared.

Yes, reviewing this thread is pretty shocking, just to see how far down we've gone. It's like starting out by losing a finger. At first, man, it's TERRIBLE! Can't believe I've lost a finger. Then a little later, you lose your hand, then arm, then a foot, a leg, etc. Right now I think we are the point where we have but only one leg and one arm left. Scary part is that there is still so much left to lose.

The shocking part is that looking back at when we lost the finger, we thought that was terrible when in comparison to where we are now, it's all roses.

Hey you’re still alive.

Consider the actual body count from W reign. it’s a tally that’s still going up.

Which makes the orange clown the second worst president ever in my book.

The reason that W is celebrated by some talk show hosts and First Ladies instead of rotting in a prison (ideally Guantanamo) for war crimes is the very reason things devolved this bad. It shows you can pretty much get away with anything.

So 45 isn't the 45th best President? Hmmm . . .

The numbers don't lie. "But our calculations, using the best information available, show a catastrophic estimate of 2.4 million Iraqi deaths since the 2003 invasion." That's Iraq alone and it doesn't even start counting the millions of refugees or the trillions of dollars of debt.

45 isn't remotely close to the death and destruction unleashed by the W criminal gang, an illegal war started on the basis of a lie. Dude deserves to spend the rest of his life in an isolation cell on Guantanamo with some occasional water boarding as distraction. I fully support this analysis: https://thehill.com/opinion/white-house/463257-rating-donald-trump-at-least-hes-not-george-w-bush

I put 45 in the next box above the war criminals. That box is reserved for common criminals and witch doctors (hint, its not an isolation cell).

OC, what scares me is that I see our leader as starting his run in politics like he did in business. There, he struck out. Twice. He had his dad to bail him out to the tune of a million dollars or more each time.

This is his first time in government. We will reelect him and watch him fail again. (I predict war with Iran with China getting involved.) He will do his best to run a constitutional amendment through so he can go a third term and get it "right". (Become a successful dictator? Have Trump hotels in every city world-wide?)

And a little more serious - how many times have we seen rulers burdened with a country mired in failure start a war to divert attention.

Let's hope I am wrong.

I could be wrong but outright war is the one area where Trump scares me considerably less than his predecessors. He already fired all those advocating for war with Iran from his circle. There will be (there already is) a proxy war in the shadows.

This corona thing will be his undoing come November (acting like a deer caught in headlights as he is) unless the Democrats manage to bungle it again. Trump was always going to get re-elected based on economy and employment but that bottom line is gone big time.
