apple inc. didn't pay a lot of their taxes and you don't see them getting run over.

I am disturbed by Jalopnik's attitude. They seem more concerned with her tweeting about it than her actually hitting the cyclist, other than the lawyer inspired comment at the end.

Jalopnik's page is not about cycling or safety so I am not hating on him

"Think before you tweet folks. And don't drive away if you hit a cyclist."

Huh, should that perhaps not be the other way around?

She's obviously not too smart. Break the law and then brag about it on a public forum. Yeah, that's going to turn out well.

What I don't get is the whole "they don't pay road taxes" thing. Do they really believe that everyone riding a bike does not own a car? Or that car ownership is the only way roads are funded? Shows what a screwed up world we live in when the only reason people can come up with for you riding a bike is because you don't have a car.

i see from the comments that someone did a little internet research as well and fwd'd that to her employer. she's an accountant in training and has a professional code of ethics to uphold. if her employer has any sort of ethic's they'll sack her immediately to distance themselves from this tart.

The claim that bikes don't belong on the road because they don't pay taxes for the road is just pure unadulterated ignorance on the part of the idiots giving that argument.

The fact is that taxes paid through motor vehicle registration or gas taxes pay only about HALF of the cost of building and maintaining new roads.

The rest of the money comes from various bond issues, sales taxes, developer fees, and other taxes.

Just goes to show how completely ignorant many people are about exactly what their various taxes pay for.

Obviously this person is a psychopath and should be charged with attempted murder. I hope the DA doesn't wimp out on this one, like they do on so many other cases.
