Do you loan him one of your precious bikes?

That's why I never had kids! Oh wait, it was the car. No, it was the guitars. No, wait, it was my sanity! Oh heck, that left a long time ago.

Sorry, can't help you!

Yeah but he, or in my case she, would know if it gets messed up it's coming out of the inheritance with substantial interest.

...and only the B bike, not the A bike.

All three daughter know my bikes are not to be trifled with.

Well he didn’t even get my B bike. I considered that money’s aside it is still very hard to get parts should something happen. So he’s riding on his friends cross bike hahaha. She must not care about her bikes as much as I do. Or as a racer (will represent Canada at upcoming junior worlds) she has better access to material. On flip side he’s been taking our CRV all over the place to go hiking so he can’t complain too much. I don’t care about the car clearly.

^ This. They can bring the car back (in my case the pick-up) with the needle on empty, fast food wrappers on the floor, and dirt in the wheel wells and I'd be, "meh."

When I get a new bike, I pass the "old" one on to my son. I get to see it when we ride together, like on our annual Father's Day ride: https://www.roberts-1.com/bikehudson/r/west/wood_ash/cue_sheet/index.htm

Yo Smokey, no disrespect intend, but a turn by turn trip report as posted is, well disappointing. Map at least, plus some vertical gain info, mean speed who gives a fart, but brewery stops and whatever else is pertinent is needed!

LSD- That's not a trip report; it's the cue sheet for the ride we discovered and liked so much that we do it every year. We start out in Woodstock. Lots going on there!
My son lives in Albany, and I live in Orange County, so it's about halfway for us to meet.
By the way, the web site posted includes tabs for the route map. We take variation Q that has a fantastic view of the gorge. It's only a bit over 30 miles, so no need to stop for refreshments.
I forget how to post pictures.

Ah, thank you for clarifying. I assume you live in Orange county NY, not Orange county VT (each has their charms). So glad for you that you can share this with your son. Not everyone is blessed with this sort of ongoing and deep connection with their adult children.

I've spent too much time on the west coast. Orange County, CA. Midway - Nebraska. Variation Q - just like all the other letters of the alphabet - dead flat and windy.
