Last night was a proud moment for grampa Spud. My 5 year old grandaughter learned how to ride on 2 wheels. We started out with the no pedals method. Once she could coast down the small incline of the driveway without hitting the pavement it was time to put the pedals back on. She was so proud of her accomplisment, as was I.

Spud is an official pusher of that drug we call "two-wheeled wonder"...

It's a good drug ; )

I now have 3 of my granddaughters that can ride with me around the park where we live here in MA. The youngest has a few years to go. Until then, she gets a free ride.

I just ordered my 4.5 yr old a new bike, she has the stride bike mastered and keeps reminding me that she needs a "bike with Pedals!"

I told her she needed to work on her balance and she proceed do a track stand on the balanced bike.
it is going to be a fun summer!

Very cool and so much fun to see them get on a bike and pedal away all on their own. I can still remember my fist day of riding without training wheels.

Our granddaughter started kindergarten this year and from the very first day has ridden her bike to school. She and her mom ride together as they have a nice safe route to follow. At the end of the day her mom rides up to the school and they ride home together.

Here's a shot of her on the first day of school. She was still using training wheels at that time but has long since ditched them. They have since added one of those clamp-on bike extensions so she goes on long rides with her parents. She loves it all!

We've had several kids in the neighborhood learning to ride bikes. You know when someone "gets it" by the whoops of delight.
