the bike geek in me feels the film makers could have easily scoured ebay/craigslist and ended up with something way more authentic and cheaper. http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/condor-cycles-makes-bikes-for-lance-armstrong-movie

Probably correct, but it's a nice job for the builder.

Veracity in film means different things to different people. Heard a story on NPR about the use of computer code in some famous movies like 'Terminator'. The code that appeared on screen (in one case) was for an Apple II computer. Computer geeks saw this and the bar has now been raised.

the hoarders on Paceline or Velocipede Salon could have really cashed in

dura-ace 7800 on a motorola era "caloi" will make it so that I will be completely unable to watch the movie. what if the campy parts on the saeco bikes are of the wrong generation, too? or worse yet, what if Jan's lever hoods are the 2nd generation when we all know he preferred the pointy 1st generation ones and had them specially built. The horror...the horror

It won't top Dennis Christopher motorpacing at 50 mph in the small ring.

lsd, I've done 50 in the small ring. (And no, not coasting!) But I did cheat a little. Fixed. But on a 42 just like Dennis.

And I did it on a 17 tooth cog. (And yes, I was nuts. The days when to keep my sanity, I rode up, then down Juaquim Miller in Oakland.)

Just for the record, on 700c wheels, that's about 260 rpm, i.e., more than 4 revs per second.

I wonder what role Dustin Hoffman will play? Dr. Ferrari? Hmmm. Probably too old for that part.

I posted the same thing on Paceline about the faux Merckx, I have two, one is a Corsa Extra the other a Strada. Easy enough to do a repaint but I was more bothered by their choice on components,if that's what will be sued in the film.

The Strada is a little more period correct at this time.
