Interesting comments! One that is in there twice is the one about the ceremony in Michigan after the passing of the motorcycle no-helmet law and a rider dying on the way home.

A saying I have heard a number of times is"God won't do for us what we can do for ourselves." Kinda like the story of the man in his house in way of a coming flood. A truck pulls up and offers him a ride to high ground. "No, I am waiting for God to save me". The water comes. A fellow arrives in a boat offers a ride. Same answer. Water rises more. A helicopter comes to pull him off the roof. Same answer. At the pearly gates, the man asks "God, why didn't you save me? I put all my faith in you?" God answered "I tried. I sent you a truck, a boat and a chopper."

In traffic, we still have to do our part. But I will never close the idea on the idea that there can be more. Twice on bike I have been in situations that should have been my end. 2nd time, I knew I was looking at my death. A dump truck turning right and I was about to hit the side in front of the rear wheels. It straightened out and I rode past on its right. I had my angel sitting sitting in the passenger seat and she yelled that I was there.

I regularly pray and meditate. But I have never prayed for myself. What works for me is a prayer asking what I am supposed to do today. In the famous acronym of racing sailors, KISS, keep it simple, stupid!

i can think of a lot better fiction/morality. dr. suess comes to mind.
How we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives.
