Part of my daily routine is to read some on-line news papers including a couple western publications. One controversial article generated a ton of reader comments- which I try to skip but it's like a traffic accident, sometimes you have to look

As I'm skimming through the top half dozen comments one from a person with the screen name Wolfbane!

I about spit out my Cheerios. Based on the urbane and rambling post it's gotta be the same person.

No, I did not poke the beast by jumping into the fray. There are some folks that I wish had made the jump here… Wolfbane, Amanda Amanda, Grammar Moses and the other dozen or so names he went by are not one of them

I DO miss Fuzzball, however. She was a firecracker!

I am personal friends with Bartape in real life, he is doing great. Wolfbane...wow. Totally forgot about him.

Bartape still posts here occasionally....but now has the screen name "Patched Tube", which was his name from another board. Think he got them mixed up when he registered here.

Man, I gotta think of a better name than, well, my name.

Saddle Cut-out, Seat Binder Bolt, Chamois Cream, Helmet Head...I dunno.

lsd, Jen was a great. I think she had a sh*t load of knowledge in her head, but I also think that she supplemented that by being the best Google finger on the planet.

Nick, I use jmdirt because my initials are jm and I wanted to express my favorite thing. jmboobs might offend some people so I went with my second favorite, dirt (actually, I used dirtpro at VN for quite a while, but decided that "pro" sound pretentious even if I was at the time). My point? I'm not very creative either!

For those that may remember, my screen name was always a double entendre....when I joined the VN forum, I was riding Mavic Cosmic Carbone wheels. And "Cosmic Kid" was a name used in the Springsteen song "Growin' Up."

I was much more creative back then.....

An offer to put me in touch with Wolfbane… such generosity one rarely sees anymore but I'm gonna pass, thanks.

And Danboo also lives in the Portland area. Ben's a nice guy so it can't totally be blamed on the location. I'm glad it was the sane Portlander who made the move here.

Please stop using these guys' names.....it may be like saying "BeetleJuice" three times.

LOL....imagine Wolfpup's reaction if I sent him an e-mail out of the blue. His head just might implode.

I got to meet Nazgul while living in Greenville a few years back. Nice guy. If I recall correctly, he was a professional photographer. Could be wrong on that one. Also met another forumite while exhibiting at Interbike in 2011 or 2012. Illiia or something like that? Does that ring a bell with anyone?

I still really miss the old VeloNews forum. Since it went away, I've noticed myself spending considerably less time on message boards such as this one. I don't do chats with anyone on Facebook anymore, but that could be a sign of the times (or my age!) Definitely feel more disconnected than ever.
