There's something about the solstice with the long nights finally at their maximum and the daylight sun that is low on the horizon that are pretty special. Enjoy!

It's a beautiful day for a ride in the PNW. From here on out we get more light, except for the clouds.

Back at y'all.

Two feet of pretty wet snow on the 9th and 10th in my neck of the Vermont woods, followed by 6 days with no power (and I don't have a generator). Showering at work, living by candlelight, melting snow to flush the toilets, and thankfully heating with a woodstove. Skiing was great! Indoor riding conditions were great (though the lack of tunes was rough while the power was still out). Unforunately, we are expecting heavy rains Wednesday that will definitely damage the snowpack. And, if history tells us anything, that will be followed a few days later by plunging temps which will turn the skiing surfaces to hard pack and ice. Fingers crossed we get a good dumping to start the new year!

Have a safe and fun holiday and a quality mileage-filled 2015!

I hate not having power. We lost it for a few hours on Saturday. It's too bad the trainer can't be hooked up to a generator.

Good luck.

Happy holidays everyone.

did any of you guys listen to the serial podcast? there was a great spoof of it done by snl about santa claus. it added a nice spice to an otherwise bland holiday. hope you guys have a good xmas and new year.

I listened to that Skinny and then saw the snl spoof last night. The Santa/Adnan phone calls were spot on. It wasn't until yesterday that I found out there was such a buzz about that show.

I thought Serial was okay and wayyyy too speculative but not bad. That kind of reporting needs to happen during the trial, not 15 yrs later. It would be freaky though if the dna tests mentioned in the last episode turn up positive.

Damn, Spud - I don't know about the others, but for me your Santa on a bike just turned into something much more festive.

Kinda like the color changing paint, but better ; )

And, I got some nifty wool knickers, too. 60 degrees on Saturday, will hardly need them.

Hope that everyone had a good holiday. It's been warm in the VT lately and the skiing is lousy, but it's nice to be able to ride outside.

I got a house full. We now have temporary custody of my three nephews 18, 14, and 12. Oh, and my mother-in-law, with begining stages of dementia. Life can change, just like that. From an empty nest to a full house. I'm putting a sign in the front yard that reads "The Inn Is Full"

dang Spud! Maybe the nephews want to take up cycling? Instant group ride. Your inn is definitely full.

I got a nice long trail run with our new pup. Well he's new to us, 1.5years old, got him in October, Border collie + Pharaoh hound. He's a great runner, never gets tired.

That's a big lifestyle change Spud.

Have a good slide into 2015 everyone. We're doing a bit of sliding in Whistler snow.

No gifts to speak off but I'm investing my 10yr work anniversary moneys into a new TEAC stereo system with ability to record my cassettes and CDs to MP3 and get with the times. Nevermind that I am nearing year 11, the wheels of employee rewards work slowly.

I think you've been invaded, more like it, Spud.

Best to you and your expanding family!
