The second incredible Swiss Allegro I have seen in my lifetime.  First was my best friend's dad's bike, ~1964, a fully chromed frame with turquoise lacquer over fading to chrome on the fork and stays. The sight of that bike up close as a pre-teen is still stamped in my brain.  Sadly - or joyously if you will - that bike got ridden, a lot and for years.  Spent its later years in Martha's Vineyard where the chrome was an asset but the salt air took its toll on everything else.

Wow! Thanks for posting that. I'm liking shiny bikes these days as the antidote to the all-matte black stuff that is in vogue today. Is that really gold-plated or some other anodization?

cp, I don't know, but I'll bet it is the real stuff. I read recently about various metal platings and gold is very doable. It does require a base metal with no scratches as it hides nothing it is so thin. If there is a bike company anywhere on this planet that can do that level of prep work, it is Allegro. Besides, that bike is 30 years old. What non-gold finish is going to hold up that well?

"It was a present from my father when I was 13."

Whose bike is this, Donald Trump?!?

When I was 13 I was lucky to get a new pair of shoes.

Beautiful bike and thanks for posting this.
