Season is changing here in the NorCal foothills. Temps dropping to a comfortable level (70's). Still wearing short sleeve jerseys with no arm or leg warmers.  No more packing two water bottles and worrying about overheating. Soon will be in the dead of winter. This is my favorite time of year. Bad summer. Lot's of smoke from fires. Got sick for a week, probably should not have ridden. Hard to believe this year is almost gone. I love fall, but I imagine just a few weeks of it and right into winter.

Fall has been in the making for a couple weeks here. Still holding on to the last remainders of summer this week. My season has been in the doldrums for a while already. No form, no motivation. Lots of work requirements, and ready to go at that hard during the offseason.

Riding in the rain will be fine and a welcome change. But standing on the sidelines of the soccer pitch 3x weekly watching my kid play in all kinds of weather will be challenging for the next 6 months.

The trees are just beginning to change color in southern VT. Got a cold snap earlier in the week. Tuesday am was was three layers on top with thermal tights, heavy gloves, shoe covers and a windproof skullcap under my helmet. Thank goodness it was warmer this morning.

Well here in Colorado's Front Range we're finally somewhat dry but the folks in Boulder, where fall riding can be amazing, have some cleanup to do and CDOT has some mountain access roads to rebuild. The destruction out there is something else.
Getting ready for my annual October mtb/camping trip to Moab, I can't freakin' wait.

looks like my AM ride this Saturday will be in the upper 30's, need to see if I can remember how to gear up for the cooler days ahead ;-)
Actually have found myself day dreaming about my winter rides lately

Boise had a sudden drop into fall already. It went from mid '80s and mostly sunny to mid '50s and rainy in a week. I'm not ready for layering!

There is a ton of snow in the forecast for the alpine at Whistler. Looks 70-80 cm over text few days. High winds too. The Rubble Creek run up and over the Cinder Flats below Black Tusk has been postponed. Seems like the fall storms are about two weeks early this year.

I'm both envious and not. The high on today's ride was 84. Boo. I am ready for a little chill in the air.
