There are 6 million kids in South Africa who have to walk two hours each way to get to school. These 120 bikes the Giro is giving to some of those kids will reduce that time 75% and raise grades an average of 23%. Without the bikes, few of those kids get past 9th grade. This is just a drop in the bucket. But big changes start small. Thank you Giro. Now organizations much larger could offer to help. Giro has paved the way. Now Intel could for example jump on board with 1200 bikes. And Microsoft with 12,000. More educated people growing up in Africa? Doesn't that pan out to more computer sales, helping both those firms? Just like more bikes in Africa plays out to more pro riders from Africa eventually winning big races, leading to a bigger fan base. Self serving deeds where everybody wins.
