Fancy Bears, the Russian hacker(s) that have been publishing the UCI TUEs to the consternation of Sky and others has found another top rider who received a TUE. Emma Johansson. For anesthetics received during surgery to remove the plate and pins in her collarbone. This was done after the 2015 Worlds in Richmond. She broke it the previous March.

Forgive my ignorance, but isn't this exactly what the TUEs are for? So a rider can get proper medical treatment at the proper time? Even this was a backdated TUE, it wouldn't upset me at all. Suppose the surgery was at the most delicate moment and Emma's pain meds or anesthesia started to wear off. Quick consult between the ortho and anesthesia guy to administer XX. (They won't be thinking WADA controls. They will be focused on getting the best surgical result for Emma; as I would hope any doctor working on me would be doing.)
To me, this ranks even lower than Cancellara's cortisones for his documented bee stings. Even if it took weeks to actually get the backdated TUE issued. (Emma comes out of her fog, is released and goes home to lay low and recuperate for a few days with a big envelope of follow up stuff. Two weeks later, Emma goes in for a follow visit. Doc makes a comment that "oh yeah, you were starting to come to life just as we were getting to this" and points at the X-ray. "We had to knock you back out quick!" First time anybodywould have thought about the WADA implications of the drug that was used.
This is all speculation on my part. But I see absolutely nothing done wrong here. Even if the drug(s) used were powerful whatevers, this was done AFTER the Worlds and months before any racing is starting. Unlike the Sky shady ethics, this looks completely ethical.
(I just read yesterday in Cycling News' article on Anna van der Breggan that Emma urged her on at the Olympic RR after Anna passed her fallen and seemingly dead teammate with “Come on, we have to do the ride; do it for Annemiek.” I have always been neutral toward Johansson but that strikes me as the words of a person with a good heart.)

Sounds totally legit and yes her encouragement for vanderBreggen during Worlds was class act.
The Fancy Bears have brought up some interesting stuff though with similar cases of Wiggins and Nadal standing out.

I'm not against what Fancy Bears is doing. Just saying there are some good apples in the bucket.

wondering if the fancy bears will be the ones to bring down the Sky Empire, IMHO, Brailsford is looking more and more like he has something to hide, has anyone checked out the "Mystery Package" story. Parliament is looking to investigate....

Can I be the first to comment on the name, "Fancy Bears"? Who brought down the electric grid?, "CutiePie99", of course. LOL. All this stuff vis-a-vis the election is crazy. I'm too young to remember it, but it reminds me of when our UN ambassador showed the Soviet ambassador PHOTOS of their missiles in Cuba, and he still wouldn't admit it. I actually took a class at GW in DC called Soviet Civilization taught by a Russian who defected during WWII. Dude had opinions, as you might imagine.

Here's a conspiracy theory worthy of the Donald: Trump is not anywhere as rich as he seems, and is propped up by the Russians. Which, if true, would explain a lot.
