To clarify, the comments I made about cortisone were in relation to David Millar's statement that cortisone helps you slim down tremendously-

Writing in the New York Times, Millar said: “On one occasion, I received a TUE for a fake tendon issue.

“Kenacort was a once-a-year drug — the stress it put on your body required time to recover.

“You’d be mad to take it more often or in bigger doses. Although, sadly, there were enough madmen around at the time in pro cycling who surely did just that.

“The three times I took Kenacort were also the times I was the lightest I’d been in my career. Yet I didn’t lose power — often the penalty when a rider sheds weight.

“Physically, I looked like a machine, muscle fibres were visible and a road map of veins crisscrossed my entire body. I was taking this powerful, potentially dangerous drug as a performance enhancer.

“Yet I was doing so within the rules thanks to the TUE loophole."

Yes, cortisone has performance-enhancing benefits. But I'm not sure about the type of weight loss Millar is describing in the above quote. Whatever SKY are using to slim their riders down, it must be undetectable. AICAR has been banned for a few years and there's been a test for it, so they must have moved on to something else, given that Wiggo won his Tour in 2012.

For the record, the cat did indeed drag me in. I have a soft spot for all the Velonews members who migrated here once they shut their forums down. Great memories of the discussions we used to have there. You guys will always be my peeps.

Holy cow.... Berzin! Nice to see you stop by. I pull up your blog every once in a while to see if you've posted anything there and occasionally get rewarded.

Hey, thanks for reading, lol!!! I've been neglecting the blog because life sort of got in the way, but not in a bad way-just been busy. I've been finishing up my applications for graduate school, as I'm planning on making a career change. But doping is still a topic that interests me greatly, moreso because I've seen it from the inside on the local amateur level for years, and recently from the international level. I may post an article about it one day since I've been gathering intel for quite a while now, but I've been reticent about posting anything because I truly believe it will have negative repercussions for too many people involved, and I'm not interested in getting anyone in trouble.

What a dumpster fire. Someone will talk soon and then we'll be treated to USPS/Disco breakdown round two, but this time with English accents. Fucking idiots.

Yes please. Link to blog. :-)

My kid is about to start college. I told him, please get a degree in four years, in anything (he's leaning towards music right now). Once you're older, 120 credits is a nightmare. I told him, you can always get a Masters (or professional degree) later, way easier. I got a masters in social work with a BS in civil engineering. LOL.

Don't let his Bronx exterior fool you, he's a puddy-tat at heart that does volunteer work in impoverished countries. Good guy.

I listened to Lance Armstrong being interviewed on Joe Rogan's podcast. Rogan was asking bout how skinny cyclists are. It might be subtle to most, but certainly not to those who follow the sport. Lance was saying, he doesn't know what's going on in the sport now, but something along the lines of, "boy those Sky boys sure are skinny". Real dog in a hat kind of comment.
