If you're a good climber, you're an outlier in the watts/kg equation.
If you're a good TT'er, you're an outlier in the watts/air-resistance equation.
the two equations are contradictories, so if you excel in both disciplines, you're doing what seems impossible, so....I get suspicious.

I haven't stated it in a very nuanced way, as we could make arguments that people who are merely able to "follow" wheels on climbs and are excellent tt'ers might not be that unlikely (and so Wiggins might get a pass...but how many pounds can you lose before your TT performance starts to suffer?  That skeletor could beat Cancellara seems surprising).

I'm not following....why can't a "climber" have a good watts / CdA equation?
Just say "NO!" to WCP!!!!

That was a good read, thanks for posting the link.

I just noticed that Froome also has the Climber jersey by a 17 point advantage over Quintana.

Think he'll try / be able to keep it?

Was Hinault the last to do this?

You gotta include the new "low-seat factor". It changes the whole equation!

Good article Huck:

"Overall, the data suggests that the performances on AX3 fell within a range that could be expected for a relatively clean peloton with the exception of Froome. His performance on AX3 is clearly flagged as an outlier and warrants healthy rationale skepticism. Going forward, the progression of his performance should be closely followed over the rest of the Tour."

That is exactly what Antoine Vayer is doing. We'll see.

I don't fully agree. One of the best armature TTers I have ever known was also an amazing climber. He was 6' and 140 lbs. Certainly power to weight has a lot to do with climbing but this kid could smash a flat TT with best of the thick leg crew. Was he a genetic freak, absolutely but most at the pro level are freaks of nature long before they make big decisions.

Please note I'm not using this one person example as any type of argument for or against doping/doping and race results.
