Has Vaughters ever said anything beyond "the right thing" at that moment? I see him as a blade of grass, always bending before the prevailing wind. Wind shifts? So does Vaughters.
Sorry, but that guy has never impressed me. Neither has Tom Danielson.

What I don't get is all the outrage that is being directed towards Vaughters instead of TD. People are going ballistic because JV did not fold the team or resign. Yeah, I get all the public statements he has made indicating he would do that in the event of a positive test, but c'mon....did anyone honestly believe he would actually fold the team? I know I didn't.
I completely get that Vaughters can be an insufferable prick in his attitude and approach. BUt you'd think he was the one who came up "glowing" in the test, not TD.
Now, I think a very fair (and tough) question is why didn't Slipstream's vaunted internal testing program did not catch this before the OOC test did. |

I have never gone on a diatribe against Vaughters. But I will stick with my blade of grass analogy. The guy is spineless. His words carry exactly the weight of words. (Ever try to put a word on a scale?) His big fault isn't that he is breaking his word, his fault is that he ever uttered those words in the first place.

I wasn't referring to anyone here, Ben.....
but I simply took his comments re: folding the team to be exactly what they turned out to be....puff statements that were about positioning, not substance.
Did anyone really expect him to fold the entire team in the face of a positive dope test? I agree that they were always kinda foolish statements, but I get where he was coming from. |

I think if it were one of the new recruits or rider brought over from Cannondale that would be one thing. But TD was one of the reformed brought in when the team started going big. If JV really believed those guys were now clean, this has gotta sting. He put a lot of credibility on the line to trot those guys out for another go-round. (Or maybe JV didn't and it's all a sham).
I could care less if he shuts it down at this point. If I were him, I'd find a buyer. |

| I cannot recall a B sample coming up negative. I think he needs to dust off his old college major and see if there is a career in there somewhere. Unless that major happened to be "bike racing. |

Danielson's B-Sample results are supposedly delayed because theya re investigating whether the sample was spiked / sabotaged by his ex-wife (which one is not known....HAH!)
