Read that he fled the scene too. Can nearly guarantee that this redneck jerk did it intentionally but of course, since this is Michigan we're talking about, the cyclists will likely be served citations and told they should have known better than to ride their bicycles on the road. Silly....bikes are for kids!!!

Really want to have a zen moment here but this guy needs to be executed in a very painful way.

Put the Perp by the side of the road, at the accident scene, in 'stocks' and say buh bye.

The vultures can pick his bones clean.

From the report it reads as if this guy was already driving erratically well before he plowed into cyclists. Almost hit a pedestrian and the police were already looking for him. So I don't think there's any chance he'll get off easy. Brutal.

Read that this morning on the internet. I always feared with my advancing age that I would be a victim of heart failure. ( I have a heart condition being controlled by meds). Now my worst fear is being taken out by some crazy driver. Seems to be getting worse on the roads I've been riding for the last couple of decades. Combination of just plain rudeness, lack of respect, sprinkled in with failure to obey simple traffic laws. The three foot law in California is a joke, if anything it has gotten worse. I love riding, I often wonder if it is worth the risk....I keep on saying yes, but sometimes I wonder.....

Further reading suggest that probably there were no kids on last night's ride, but I also the the comment by the police officer interviewed that this group rides every Tuesday evening and is very orderly.

I live in Kalamazoo and have ridden with this group for years. They are very orderly and I have no doubt were doing everything correctly. It sounds at this point like the driver was intoxicated. I have been a victim of road rage myself, but I don't think this was the case last night.

I was not on the ride last night, but know 8/9 riders affected by this tragedy. Those that survived have a long road ahead of them.

Here is an update to the Kalamazoo "accident". Scratch what I wrote above re: intoxicated driver. It now sounds like this guy was just an arsehole. 2nd-degree murder charges. Damn.

I try not to be a vengeful person when it comes to stuff like this, but I hope this jackass gets ass-raped every night in prison.

There were two prior calls to cops that this guy was driving dangerously.

This story could be viewed as the dark side of the coin to OC's "the virtues of group rides" link.

Funk, correct me, but one of the joys of riding in your area is, being in the far west end of eastern daylight time, it doesn't get dark in June until almost 10 pm. 40-50 mile rides are possible after work. This may make up for the cloudy, slushy winters.

One less vote for the Donald if he's in jail?

That is the thinnest of silver linings.

WHO, or WHOSE relations must die like this for respectful driver behavior and meaningful legislation to be implemented?

Backstory on this POS

He also rode a motorcycle, so one would think he'd have sympathy with cyclists regarding vulnerability on the road...........nah.

this guy should be hung, flat out frontier justice IMHO
All more the reason I ride MTB's, and cross bikes off road these days, just getting too crazy out there on the road, and N. New Mexican drivers are the worst, lot of hate out there towards cyclists

Update on this P.O.S. Looks like "drugged driving" has now been added on top of the 2nd degree murder charges.

Holy Crap, the two shots in those pics, the one of the front of his truck, and the bikes in the evidence area are unbelievable. The truck looks like it hit a brick wall, and the bikes are just a mangled mess!!
Have they determined how fast this guy was going? Looks like he was moving at a high rate of speed
