what are your thoughts on this? Been reading up on this the last few days. Interesting stuff, did they finally find the dirt on Brailsford and SKY? This really has me wondering about Wiggin's TDF victory

It's TUEsday!

lsd, yes, sortta. (Wasn't one of those TUEs backdated?) But where was UCI in all this? Aren't they supposed to be looking at what they OK?

And knowingly pushing for "marginal gains" that don't fit the ethics of fair play even if they can be argued as "legal" doesn't shine much of a positive light on Sky. especially as Sky came on the scene as the new "transparent" team.

What Ben said. Legal yes. Ethical, transparent, no. It certainly derails Sky's claim of being the shining light of clean cycling. The timing of Wiggin's treatments is also highly suspicious.

Other than Wiggins/Sky, there are some serious questions here for UCI, WADA and UKAD with the latter already under a cloud from Armidstead case and other failures. It all adds up to questions about Britisih sport and nevermind they had an Ole Games which is typically the catalyst for this kind of stuff.

IMO, all TUE's should be made public. That would go a long way towards providing transparency. If athletes are looking to game the system ( as it appears Wiggo may have done), then the promise of exposure should help reduce TUE abuse.
Just say "NO!" to WCP!!!!

Cycling has always and will continue to brush it all under a rug in terms of doping. The only way you are going to get caught is if you are a d!ck (you know who) and piss people off. Look at all the grand tour podiums that are tainted, yet whose name is stricken from the record? Even Riis admitted to doping and he is still listed.
Let's go back to sticking our head in the sand. Nothing to see here, move along.

I have little doubt that doping is still common, just in lower doses or with novel agents. I'm shocked, shocked! that some riders can do it legally while others can't.

What CK said, and not just for cycling but for all sports. There are many TUE abusers. Nadal was apparently outed as another big name but he's brushed it aside like Wiggins. Making TUEs public. Was recommendation of one of docs critical of Sky.

well I was a bit surprised to learn that they chose intramuscular triamcinolone to treat his asthma/hayfever/lack of ability to win the tour fe france without some pharmacologic help so close to the start of the races. Its an obvious method of increasing his performance. Whether it was legal or not doesnt matter to me. Shouldnt have done it.

Sir Bradley's smugness has always bothered me. But I digress. Anyone who has treated asthma (yes I'm a physician) recognizes how out of the norm it is to treat restrictive airway disease with this steroid and in this manner. Inhalers? Oral prednisone? Even IV doses? yes. Intramuscular triamcinolone? no. There are also non-steroidal drugs which open airways and are not associated with the the "side effects" which steroids posses - all of which happen to help Bradley "level the field" performance wise. I also have a major problem with Froome taking the oral steroids last year when he won ?Roumandie? was it. I mean if youre sick just sit out. So I conclude that he and his team are ethically bankrupt and Wiggins' tdf win is tainted. So too are many others probably. But if you need a systemic dose of a steroid to compete - you shouldnt compete in my book.

stronz, marginal gains? I;m guessing intramuscular triamcinolone has marginal gains on Wiggins' asthma/hay fever. Also marginal gains in his athletic performance. Isn[t that what Sky is all about? (Asks a cynical Ben.)

And there is the circumstantial evidence of inexhaustible skybot domestiques that recalls US Postal, suggesting an entire team rather than just the stars are juiced.

well, Marginal Gains is the key word here, lwhen I was watching the Pantani doncumentary, they were saying even if it was 1% to 2% gain, that does not sound like much, but they also said, if it was say a 200km stage, that would give you almost a 2 kilometer or more gain, which is HUGE!
Exactly longslowdistance, some track racer comes out of Britain to team Sky, next thing you know the guy is leading the Sky Train on major climbs in the tour?, uhhhh, yeah, sure....WAAAAAY to much Postal like, which explains why the Sky Boys get upset when someone brings up the comparison
