Much of what he says about "blood doping" may be true but he makes quite a bit of assumptions regarding other racers and USA cycling without having all the facts. Considering those assumptions go back to the 90's I would expect he'd have support from from others to back his assumptions. Also I took a different take on Bobby Julich questioning him, "how in the world did you beat me", to mean, the only way you could beat me at this level is you were doping not that he (B.J.) was doping. Interesting insight anyway,

He does make some assumptions for sure but as we all know only teeny-tiny bits of"inside" info has been leaked out as riders were caught or couldn't take the guilt and confessed. For me the real questions are how they beat the tests and got away with it, then how come every time one of Lance's super domestiques left the team they got busted probably doing what they had done previously and got away with it. Floyd's super ride when he got poped just makes me think he did what he always had done in the past and had confidence he couldn't get caught. We can only guess..

There is evidence (granted, some hearsay) that Postal/Discovery regularly got warnings when tests were coming. Also that positives were not pursued. (We know now the cortisone positive in '99 was known at the time to be a non-topical application so the postdated TUE that was allowed for saddle sore cream should not have been.) How many other positives were not pursued, or perhaps the testers simply tossed a few of those Postal/Discovery samples. Given what we do know, it seems that such a scenario is well within possibility. We also know that LA or JB could "notify" UCI of a suspect rider (funny, always a threatening competitor) and that rider would get close scrutiny. I see the pattern of riders leaving the LA/JB teams and getting busted as evidence of just how corrupt UCI was. Ben
