I'm glad that those starting out in the sport today have the benefit of insight into the pitfalls that await should they choose to pursue a pro career. If you have a son or daughter, is this really the sport you want them to go all the way in? Of course every sport has its dark side. Hopefully cycling's dark side is diminishing.

I found it interesting how his mother was glad he was in a healthy activity like cycling and not off doing drugs and getting into trouble.

More dead cyclists from doping, but these boys never made it to the high life and there were more in the 90's if you want to google. For me this is the problem with doping, that the up and comers will do what the DS's and "docs" tell them to do and take... http://www.sportsonearth.com/article/39997062/
