Perhaps "others" have consciences, still feel robbed & lied to, or aren't willing to brush things under the carpet?
As for the 'owning up' part, Armstrong has yet to fully grasp the concept of 'the truth, the whole truth & nothing but the truth' . . . . should we just accept his pathetic, self-serving watered-down version for his benefit and move on?
You can if you want, but I suspect the majority of those aware, or in some way, touched by the whole sorry 'fallen-god saga' feel there is still a debt left to pay. |

I'm so tired of the "everyone was doing it excuse." I don't accept that answer from my kids, so you'll excuse me if I don't accept it from professional athletes.
That said, I think Ullrich (and Armstong) should keep their melds and whatever else....certify all past results from ~1990-2010ish and denote that period as "The Blood Doping Era."
This insistence on focusing on the past is just silly.... |

BUT make sure to include ALL sports, Superbowls, World Series, Olympics,World Cup, Grand Slams, etc etc..... the religious like zeal of some cycling fans just rankles me (actually the religious like zeal for anything rankles me).

There is only one moral to this story: whether he likes it or not Ullrich continues to be tied to the hip to whatever LA is or isn't doing.
Other than that there are no moral grounds for the redistribution or taking away of medals. |

| I was joshin' about the religious zeal. I don't think asking someone t accept the consequences of their actions equates to religious zealotry. Like you say, if we ask our kids to do it, we can ask grown ups to do it too. |

Asking someone else to do something should never be confused with actually doing something yourself.
Telling someone to tell his wife he is cheating on her, is very easy to do. Makes you feel kind of good. Doing the right thing and all. Actually telling your wife you are cheating on her, another story all together.
It's best just to not cheat on her in the first place, but temptation has been around a really long time. |

der kaiser is far from in hiding; he writes a blog for euro sports (a good one too), has a bunch of sponsorship deals in europe, and is constantly doing rides for charity and what-not (just 'like' his FB page to keep up). as i said before, he really did go thru hell personally, accepted his punishment(s), did an elegant mea culpa years ago, and has moved on and seems to be very happy with his life now.
we seem to fail to remember that USADA offered armstrong lots of opportunities to come clean, and possibly keep his titles in exchange... but he refused. he did have the most to lose, and by rolling the dice in an all or nothing play, he came up with snake eyes. |

The LA mess changed my outlook on professional cycling far more than it changed my opinion of LA himself. The shear depth and complexity of the cheating and the laissez-faire attitude of the cyclists involved is mind boggling.
It's clear to me that anyone involved in the sport during those years was either doping or acutely aware of doping but remained silent (almost as bad in my book).
Going after jerseys and medals won during those dark years seems like trying to put the milk back in the bottle. Sure, you can do it, it's messy and time consuming, but what's the point? |
