Was reading an article about injuries in the NFL and was thinking about PEDs and if they are the cause of injuries or prevent them. If you build a stronger muscle you could make the argument that it would help prevent injuries ( like a torn ACLU ) since they would strengthen the joint. You could also make the argument that having a stronger muscle could create more stress on joints since the joint was moving with more force. In the NFL you get impact with other players who are stronger and moving at a greater speed. In cycling though were the forces are just your own would a strengthening PED cause more or less injuries. I would venture a guess it would, even in cycling, strengthening PEDs would lead to more injuries than less. More force just seems like a bad thing. However plenty of weekend warriors hurt themselves all the time. Interesting topic for research. |
