The core fell out of the steering lock on my Vulcan. I'm thinking about getting a simple, inexpensive disc lock to keep the honest people honest. Has anyone used one?

I thought about getting one before. If your disk have holes, just get one that fits.
You can get them with a pull cord that you put on your handlebar so you will never take off without taking it out or you can make your own.
That would be a worthy addition to the item.

I bought one two days after I posted this and it will work as good as the steering lock. The down side is that its not built into the bike and it requires another key. The pull cords are a good idea to alert crooks to the device and to remind you not to crush your caliper but I'm using a pink band through my key chain as my reminder for now.

If your like me, unless your very attentive to that pink band, you will forget one time....xxxx. I like the very visible ties to the handlebar, both for vandels and me.

Very true! The way I put the band through makes it odd to use the key until I remove it though. I can switch to yellow bands now that they are on sale!

Another "afraid I'd forget' rider here. My moto has a steering lock anyway. They'd have to lift it either way.
