Happened on one of the "recommended" articles on the browser this morning.

https://getpocket.com/explore/item/why-we-need-to-bring-back-the-art-of-communal-bathing

I've been noticing and thinking about how prudish we have become in the locker-room over the decades since my middle school/high school/college years. Then, we all undressed together at our lockers, walked to the shower (which might or might not be close) carrying our towels and thinking nothing of the fact that we weren't wearing a stitch. The showers came out of the wall of a big room with whoever was there on full display. I did this for years and never thought twice about it (after the first week or so when I was in 7th grade and starting out in football). For a short while, doing this routine was very intimidating as I felt as small as a fly next to the 12th grade football players. Got lucky, My locker was next to one of the starting linemen. He made feel welcome from the go.

Riding Cycle Oregon and other events in recent years I have used the facilities of a number of colleges and high schools. Big changes! In many, it is easy to never seen between clothed in cycling gear and ready to leave in street clothes. I can imagine there are kids who grow up never seeing their cohorts naked. This may evolve to a world where they never see a naked person at all outside the sex industry and the medical field. Weird!

I spend the vast majority of my public life clothed and most of it at home likewise, but that once a year crazy bike ride where thousands of up show up, stuff our clothed in bags and go ride feels like the healthiest thing I do. Skinny dipping is right up there (as long as proper respect is given to poison ivy/oak).

Lived in Norway for a couple years and frequented the municipal saunas.
Between that, 7th grade PE, and bike racing where we cram four guys into a single hotel room... I've ended up seeing plenty.

There was an article in the Atlantic or some other mag about the 50's where PE was at the YMCA where they had nude swimming... yeah... no.

My grandfather belonged to a men's athletic club back in the day....he would occasionally take us there and all the men swam nude (as did we).

Imagine that in today's day and age....

Back in the mid-90's, we went on a MTB trip to Steamboat in the summer....went to one of the local hot springs after riding to sit in the springs and have a few beverages. Upon parking, there was a sign that said "nude bathing OK after sunset". Hmmm...OK. Maybe some hotties are there!

Sun sets and some people are undressing....we don't. After a bit, I look across the "pool" and see a guy on the other side, standing in water just below waist depth. "WTF? how is his junk floating on the water lik that?......OH. MY. GOD......IT ISN'T 'FLOATING'!!!!!"

We quickly got the hell outta there.... Still scarred from the experience....so yeah, I'm good with a little more personal space for bathing options these days.
Just say "NO!" to WCP!!!!

Hahaha CK - the good, the bad and the ugly.

Suffice to say I lived several years in Santa Cruz. Suffice to say there's a lot of hotties among those hippies and there is also a lot of hot tubs, and of course this being the west coast clothing is ALWAYS optional. Add some green and some beverages and you've got yourself a 2-year high. It's all fun and games on the west coast. Oh, I also lived in a lesbian house for a bit while there, together with a native-american dude/wannabee Hollywood star and his half-breed wolf/dog (aptly named Geronimo of course) but I'll leave that to the wildest of your imaginations. A long ways removed from those days being shackled to a desk now.
