Yesterday, at the World Pandemic Games, the US posted the fasted time ever in the Team Pursuit to 3K deaths per day.

Not a world record though. In October 1918 there were 195,000 deaths due to spanish flue in US.

That is a whooping average of 6500 deaths per day for 30 days straight.

That was done using faired recumbents. The current record is to the Eddy Merckx standard.

But on the flipside the number of participants in that race was much smaller. The current event has a much larger field at the startline.

Still, those Spanish made bikes were really fast! Thankfully, under UCI we are back to more normal speeds.
