It was really more of a glass turning class because during the hour I only blew for about 60 seconds total but turned the glass on the rod a lot. It was a great experience (I was going to say cool experience but at 110 outside and five raging furnaces inside...). The finished product is nice but the process was very fascinating to me. I plan to take another class this fall/winter.

we have a glass blowing community here called 'hot glass/cold beer'. the glass blowers hooked up with the home brew club. lets see a pic.

I lived next door to a quiet guy for 12 years who blew glass. I didn't know what he did for most of those years and always wondered how this guy who apparently did no exercise maintained the upper body strength he had. (He was seriously strong!) Then I learned he had turned all the large glass sculptures I could see from my windows with those arms. "Oh, l now I get it!"

He came out of the Dale Chihouly (sp) school and taught there for years (maybe still does).

There we go...if you click on the avatar you can see a slightly larger photo. As you would expect it looks better in real view vs. in a photo from a phone shrunk into a tiny jpg.

In 2011 we went to Boston and saw Dale Chihuly: Through the Looking Glass at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. If an exhibition of his is near you. You should go check it out.

Nice bowl, man. Cool colors!

We toured the Corning Glass Museum in Corning NY a few years ago while in the Finger Lakes area. A must see. The bike riding was great. The wine was hit and miss.
