I did not intend to hijack Ben's twit/twat twitter thread. I explained the reason I commented on the use of "twat" as a pejorative. I think it shows little respect for women. I get the point that "dick" is also used out of literal context, but I think the associated connotations are less threatening to men than to women. The recent massacre in California brings home the point.

Another way of looking at it. Each party is welcome to call themselves by such a name, but it is not acceptable for others to do it. Example. The "N" word. Used by blacks about themselves regularly but that doesn't make it OK at all for us.

Really - we are equating the term "twat" with the "N" word and a delusional young man in California?

I rode up behind a lady yesterday stopped on a blind bridge (90 degree turn on, 90 turn off, wide, but bushy single track). She did not see me, and yelled at the guy with her, "I'm trying to get this FN chamois out of my twat!!" At that point the guy with her laughs, and points at me. She was so embarrassed that I could feel her pain. I quickly slid past, and continued on my way.

My assumption is that he heard me coming, and told her to get off of the bridge, hence her angry reply.

Twat and c*nt are just words that I don't use because most woman aren't going to appreciate it.
