Thank you to whoever fixed the forum. We missed discussing the Worlds, Valverde retiring, and more.

Yes, thank you! (Phantom Keith Richards?)

Funny, I woke up yesterday thinking it was Saturday and Il Lombardia was on. Not a trace of the live coverage on CN. No Monument! No VeloNation! Is the world ending? And if it is, will I get the word?

Got up late today, scrambled to get onto Il L on time, booted up, called up Firefox and the VeloNation site appeared!

Nice to see it's back. Surprisingly sad when I thought it was gone...

The dinosaurs didn’t go extinct after all. Dang.

Valverde did best of retirees, Terpstra faired worst, crashing in final race. Nibali and Gilbert somewhere in between.

The worlds was boring. No beef with winner but he should never have been given that much leash. Too bad VDP was occupied with Aussie teens and cops otherwise we might have had an actual race.

Meanwhile we had a gravel worlds that Americans say wasn’t gravel even though both mens and women podiums had solid off-road pedigree (save for Oss). The US audience seemed to have a hard time with gravel growing up and not just being contested by guys living in camper van bubbles (to quote Nathan Haas). There’s some criticism to be had on course but it’s onwards and upwards from here.

And we missed the low down on Bens Cycle Oregon trip.

All VDO had to do was call the front desk and ask them to send those teenagers somewhere else. Perhaps ask coach to talk to the desk.

Cycle Oregon just released the official photographs today. They have 3 photographers. I went through two. The country! The hills and the rock formations! All so associated with grade changes it was hard to observe all of it with appreciation. So no photos of me but lots of familiar sights. Sadly it seem the photographers were not on the long ride options the second lay day or the final day - the two hardest rides/climbs of the week.

The theme was all about the Painted Hills but I never got there. Second lay day. Many went after the ride to our lay day camp. Others over the lay day. I rode the longish ride in as a recovery ride, then did laundry. Next day's long option was hard! and adding more miles - just plain no. I drove inot the hills the day after the finish. Spectacular but not the same as experiencing it on bike.

Haven't ridden since last year. But I've enjoyed this site for over 20 years. Thought I had lost a few friends in a world that we should not.

Good luck on Big Sugar CK if that's still happening. Beyond panic mode?

Thanks, OC…landed in Bentonville today.

Have jettisoned all performance expectations….just gonna enjoy the day as much as possible. Have the legs to get to the finish, just not the legs I had back in August.

A riding buddy decided last minute last weekend to come down to Fayetteville and spend the week riding….he and I hooked uo for dinner tonight. I have been coming to this town for 20+ years on business…was so much fun to be here with a buddy for a change.

Have a meeting at Walmart tomorrow (which means I get to expense this trip!!), then a shakeout ride in the afternoon.

Weather looks good for race day, but gonna be windy.

Full report to follow!!
