Hey CK, regarding thinline's choice of gear for the pic:
He lives by Appalachian Gap, which is a very, very steep climb over the spine of the Green Mountains. When I saw that low gear my thought was " whoa, that's one tough dude".

A second to jrt1045. I rode my ti fixie yesterday 70 miles to and around Hagg Lake. I knew this was going to be a long day and it was dry so I took off the fenders. The road around the lake which is nestled into the Coastal range was in places wet with melting snow/very heavy frost and much of it had been sanded. Bike got put away wet. Love that I can quickly bring it to nice levels of clean with just a rag. Don't even need water if the temps drop. (My painted bikes sometimes go for a month or more with dirt and grime on them, waiting for the hose to get turned on.)

Brushed ti bikes also do an excellent job of NOT highlighting the dirt on it, masquerading as "clean" when actually filthy.

enjoy that new Seven! We used to joke (15 yrs ago) that the name came from the price in thousand$. Now I'm betting that is close if not more.

I'm curious to hear how those HEDs feel, esp compared to Ksyriums. I've always felt the Ksyriums were pretty harsh but have been so bulletproof for me I haven't switched to anything else. I'll probably be pulling the trigger on something in a few weeks so the Vt roads may not be melted out enough. I'm trying to decide if I should put the real money in the wheels or in Ultegra Di2. or both! Are you going to try running those tubeless?

congrats!

Chinook,

I got the clincher version of the Ardennes CR. It will be a while yet before I get to try 'em out. Hopefully, we'll get some decent snow so I can play on my skis and snowshoes until spring. I have also been on Ksyriums for a while now and the things are tough as nails in my experience. A good thing with the VT roads being pretty rough. They are taking a beating this winter with these thaw/freeze swings we keep getting. Frosy heaves and potholes galore. I do hear good things about the HED ride comfort, handling in corners and decreased rolling resistance due to the wider rim body.

The Gap, right now, I would strongly recommend a mountain bike! Huge cracks and potholes, major frost heaves. Places where you can bottomn out your car if you don't know what's around that corner!

Sweet ride there! Maybe that Polar Vortex will move on so you can get out there an enjoy it.

Ha, that head tube is about as long as my TT!

Nice bike! Enjoy it! I actually know an odd number of local dudes who ride Sevens.
