Thanks, 6ix....that pic was from Racine 2 years ago, so I am not quite that thin....yet. Actually hoping to be a kilo or two under that for Madison this year. We'll see.....

As for determining baseline, yes there are ways you can do it w/o resorting to wind tunnels or velodrome testing. A lot of people have done the "Chung Method", but when I looked into it, it seemed a bit over my head (math has never been my strong suit, though!). Another option is using Golden Cheetah program which has a section called Aerolab (I think).

The components of speed are CdA, Crr, drivetrain loss, wheel size, wind resistance and power. If you know all the other variables, the CdA is what is left, so you just solve for that. Plenty of places online that will give you Crr for lots of different tired, etc.

As I understand it in Golden Cheetah, you can plug in assorted data for a given ride or segment and it will determine CdA for you. Also check out Best Bike Split, which is a really cool site. It helps you determine what times you can achieve for given courses, etc. amazingly accurate.
Just say "NO!" to WCP!!!!

Finally, confirmation of something I have known for decades but never seen on paper. Crr does change (increase) as we riders tire!

Thanks, CK.
