I have to admit, this has been one of the most fun vacations (which included cycling) in a while.  I have to credit it to Bike Haus in Scottsdale.  Every morning, there is a shop ride at 7:00 (with other options earlier in the morning, too).  The guys are super sociable, and great to ride with.  I got to ride more local roads than I ever would have had I been solo, and had a few hammerfests to boot.  Glad I connected with them as it completely changed my trip with respect to the rides I was able to get in.

Good stuff. I have to give (and have given) same props to Lifecycle in Brisbane which have facilitated my riding there through bikes and shop rides. Still connect with the owner (former olympian) although it looks like my Brisbane riding days may be over (semi banned from working there).

Thanks for the tip GJ!  I had so much fun on my winter escape to AZ this year that I plan to make it an annual event.  I'm going to base out of Scottsdale next year instead of Phoenix so I'll check this shop out.  I'll be riding dirt so I won't need the group rides but its nice to know of a good shop if I need some parts, info., or tools.  There's also a cool little shop in Fountain Hills that one of our crew got a tire and great local stoy from (I have CRS so I can't remember the name).

jmdirt - They have at least one MTB shop ride weekly, if not more. They have a set day of Tuesday evenings at this point in the year and I think maybe another on Friday... Not 100% aside from Tuesday as I only have road bikes. At any rate, they are a good resource for MTB riding as well.

Really feel bad that our schedules didn't sync last week, and prevented us from climbing Mt. Lemmon. There's always next time I guess. Sounds like you had a great time.

I had heard some good things about them when some friends raced the 24 Hours of the Old El Pueblo, they said they were very friendly and helpful despite being very tired from the prep and business of the week before the race.

Gonzo - when I walked in, I noticed it is all high-end zoot stuff. Thought that there may be a bit of a shop ego to go with all the expensive stuff - none of that whatsoever. Very nice and down-to-earth folks who just love really nice cycling gear. They're moving to a larger shop in October - can't wait to check it out the next time I am down that way.
