I don't know Dale; if we're gonna allow that then next thing you know you're gonna have guys (or galls) asking for exception cause they been riding into the wind, or uphill, or on a poorly inflated tire.

Schitt, even worse, you may start docking me miles because I am riding in the aero position most of the time!!

No, CK, the number doesn't get reduced fo rthe aero position, it's just that miles are converted into kilometers . . . directly, so that your 10 miles equals 10 km.

CK, is that the key to some of Gurb's phenomenal sprint speeds? (Salesman: "This computer will make you 60% faster. You'll see the benefits your first ride.")

getting close to 8k miles for the year, a bit less than the last few years, but I have been focusing on quality over quantity this year, and a lot more miles on the MTB's than in years past, so that has been very good

7,500 kms (4,700 miles)
104 kms vertical (342,250 feet)
200 ride days

30 days less than last year and it shows in the mileage. But same amount of vertical, so less time wasted on the flats :-)

Approaching 100 kilometers...on the one metric that matters, vertical.

Rain doesn't matter, its a mind set.

According to Strava we've got some very hard core riders in my age grou- 55+ y.o. - here in california. In the area I live in one guy is over 1 MILLION feet of climbing (307,000m for canuks) and 11,000 miles (~18,000km) for the year. Dozens over 500,000 feet of climbing and approaching 10,000 miles.

I feel like a slug even though I surpassed my goal of 7000 miles and 300,000 feet of climbing.

One factor that help this along was that it hardly rained at all the entire year - driest year for over 100 years. And it keeps going - sunny and warm this weekend again. have to get in some very long rides while it lasts.

Yes, for most californians rain does matter. Why ride when you can wait a day and be dry is the usual mindset.

I just entered today's miles into my spreadsheet. Bumped Jessica J, my new sweetie, over 6000. Not bad for fixie days over two years old. Year's total (for all bikes) was a feeble 4673, lowest in 10 years.

Fun bike totals: The ancient Peter Mooney still has more miles than all the rest of my other five bikes combined but that will last just a few more months. My workhorse Trek commuter has more miles than my next two combined and could hang on to that but probably won't as I am commuting less. Next two are the two ti bikes and they will just keep rolling along. Jessica J is too much fun and the good bike is, well, a good bike.

If I roll 5400 miles/year for the next three, I'll hit 200,000 miles. Might have to see how soon I can get there.

Quality not quantity.
