Well, as many of you know I have a new Seven. In the past my bikes have ended up with names, usually thanks to a friend that has since moved to Colorado that would name them. For example, she named my Klein . . . Calvin. What would be a good name for my new Seven? So far, all I can think of is Lady Ti. Suggestions welcome.

Love the pun. No name suggestions - given how you came to get that bike it might touch a raw nerve.

Thread diversion: By all means name your bike if you like. But can someone explain to me why give a bicycle a name? Yes we spend a lot of time with them, including some times of ecstatic joy and some times of pure misery, than can rival (in many ways) our relationship with our spouses. And some bikes even have a bit of soul. But they're not people or dogs. So why the impulse to project (as the shrinks would say) a personality by way of a name onto an inanimate object?

For me it's just a bit of fun. Nothing deep involved. In this instance I figure how many average American guys say they get to ride the crap out of female royalty on a regular basis!

Only a few of my bikes have every had names. Only one did I "think up"; Jessica J, the 2nd Jessica. It was inspired by the first. Jessica/Team Dumpster was the most fun bike I had ever ridden, but I knew was destined to not last a long time. So I ordered a replacement in nicer metal, ti vs steel with tweaks to make it the fixie I always wanted. Took me a bit to think of Jessica J. I knew it was to be another Jessica, but Jessica 2 sounded dumb. Well, my last initial is J so that decided it.

My first bike to have a name was my old Peter Mooney. At around two years, I was riding it when I suddenly realized the bike's name was Pete. I have no idea why; it just was. All the Peters I have every known including my brother, uncle and the builder were "Peter", not "Pete".

Jessica was inspired by a woman I heard talk soon after I started riding that bike. She was talking of her journey of recovery from multiple addictions and a wreck of a life to a responsible citizen, good mom and wife. When she talked of expecting to be found in a dumpster, my first thought was "Team Dumpster's name is Jessica. (That the bike belongs to "Team Dumpster" isn't really a joke. I paid $20 at an "as is"sale for a bare frame that had been hit hard by an SUV, had a trashed fork, dented top tube and both chainstays were about to break. It was obvious no one else would take that frame; that if I didn't plunk my $20 down, that night it would be in the dumpster reserved for recycled steel. My tape measure said it should fit me so I bought it.)

My first ti bike, the good bike, has no name. Neither have any of my winter/city fix gears nor the bike I raced.

As a lover of ti bikes, they ride great and are easy to live with but I gotta say they don't have as much soul as a great steel bike.

I named my first good road bike "The Wife" which was fine until I got married.

I only have a name for my Colnago Master X-Light, which I don't ride that often, "Huckleberry". I guess because I forget how nice it rides and I say "your my Huckleberry"....I dunno, it is normal to talk to your bike? Come to think of it, have your ever met a "normal" cyclist?

"THE Magnificent Seven". This year's Cycle Oregon. Seven mountains: Adams, Hood, Jefferson, Washington and The Three Sisters.

"Dump, dump, de, dump...dump de, de, de, dump"? Depends on which bike i choose. (Jessica J? Replace those "p"s with "b"s.)

I had a Fuji MTB that I gave a name to. It actually explains itself. Think end of the bars and an Illiac artery

Cosmic Kid, I like the Gwyneth idea.
If the bike were mine, I'd definitely go with Brad. Yep.

Well, if it is a painted Ti frame, you could call it 'Lilly' as I think that painting Ti is 'gilding the lily'

Whatever you do, don't put one of those 'shark fin' saddles on it and name it after the 7th planet in our solar system.....

I guess I should see how my good bike takes to being called "Lilly". I don't even know if that bike is a she.

Vlad?

I was thinking Vlad but I did not want the bike to have a masculine name so just "the IMPALER" is the exact text as written on the top tube. I eventually had surgery for that one.

cc, brads are those things I keep pulling out if my tires! I'd fear a bike named Brad would seek out its buddies on the road.

Ben: I just like the look and durability of brushed Ti. Painting it is a step backwards, IMHO.

Yep, might as well get a steel frame. Seven=Gwynet, took me awhile CK but I get it now.

For me, ti has never been about the looks. It's about the ride. My quick spin on a ti bike 20+ years ago told me that this was what belonged between my legs. Getting the bike custom built was my chance to also fulfill an even older wish, to have a red bike. So I did both (and knowingly broke Rule #97 - think I got it right. The Rule they did not publish.)

Originally it was going to called,"SPECIA7IZED", but after getting a cease and desist letter they changed it to SE7EN.

Skinny, after the name generator, someone should provide Specialized with a link to the results. That should keep their legal team busy for years.
