Ah, it was great. Sweet routes, nice spots to stay in various towns, fun companions for the week. Mostly rolling terrain. Got rained on one day for several hours but the temps were warm enough that it was fine to stay out in it.

Was down in NH for the weekend for a concert and on the way home stopped to ride the final 10 miles of Kancamangus (sp?) Highway fromt he east to the summit of the pass. After reading a bit the night before about how "brutal" of a climb it was over the last 5 miles on some biking forum I was wondering what lay in wait. Sheesh, brutal? I doubt it got over 8%. The first 5 miles were 2-3% then the actual climb started with 5 miles to go. Basically a very steady 6-7% for five miles. So, not a giveaway but brutal? The forum posts must have been from folks from flat states visiting New England!

Hope everyone's season has been safe and fun.

I've ridden the Kanc numerous times from both sides and it is not that hard a climb. I agree that what you read must have been from flatlanders.

A great loop includes the Kanc (agree not hard, but scenic for sure), Franconia notch , Crawford notch and Bear notch. Crawford notch is hard northbound, but I usually ride this loop clockwise (Crawford downhill), to ride the narrowish and mellow bike trail in Franconia notch slow, uphill rather than down.
