A few weeks ago I noticed my Garmin was reading a heart rate a bit lower than normal but what was puzzling was the fact that I was not wearing a heart rate strap. It was picking up a signal from one of my buddies-- a guy with a killer sprint. I filed that bit of info away and took note of when he would fade on a climb and the corresponding heart rate. It's a rare day when I can take him in a sprint so about a mile out I ramped it up to where he was right at his limit and at 200 meters he was cooked and had nothing left for the city limit sign. Go ahead, ask how badly I feel about that tactic

yes, by NSA standards. This is data, not meta-data. You are listening in on the content, and acting on it.

He is transmitting. It is public domain. My teammate used to have the alarm on his HRM beep. In training rides I'd attack him when it went off.

He's a sprinter, not a climber...

No way its cheating. You shouldn't feel bad for being smarter..... you should be rewarded instead.

Dude should have sat on your wheel. Good read on your part. You can probably get away with that a few more times. See if he learns.

Very funny indeed.

But is also made me wonder...do we think any team would be in the bussiness of hacking in other teams' data to get at their power numbers and know what the competition is up to?

Last year's TdF quote from one of the Sky guys made me wonder: "he's on XXX Watts can't keep it up, don't bother chasing" or something like that.

LOL! That would be like Pavlov's dogs. Hear the alarm and drill it for all it's worth
