Behind the times geezer here just learned that long easy distance is the current term. Makes sense. I wonโt be changing my forum nickname because Slow fits. |

I read a while ago that lsd was long steady distance. |

God I hate the LSD moniker...at least when people say it is Long Slow Distance. Nothing could be further from the truth. It is Long Steady Distance....speed is irrelevant. It is about consistent effort over a longer period of time.

LED is marginally better, but if you do it properly, a LSD ride towards the end can be quite challenging. |

What is old is new...
Just more defined, and backed up with a little more research.
Zone 2, or more aptly named VT2 is quite the training du jour. It's pretty much LSD/LED with more definition - not as much as one would like if they don't have access to a sports lab, but still attainable within reasonable margins.
A term, but not concept, I recently heard but had been ignorant of is '75 at 75' ... Seventy-five percent of one's training at seventy-five percent max heart rate. Of course that means nothing to those who only look at power.
From what I have heard, VT2 should not be subject to cardiac drift as for you staying below the second ventilatory threshold should not trigger such an event. That has been my experience. I am still trying to find my upper limit without testing, but so far at 75% max HR have not experienced cardiac drift. |

We're older now, the throw downs are rather mild compared to back in the days of Danboo, Amanda, and whatever that woman who was an expert on a million different bikes.
...that and Gurbs couch
As for me, I'm going to do the AARP ride today. Bunch of retired guys who pretend we're still relevant. |

I was thinking of Fuzzball, not Jennifer.
Jennifer was rational, FB would go off the rails at times.
And yes, the Crocs as well. He was the trifecta of amusement: Crocs, Couch, 30mph average.
